This week had two firsts. My first opera; Carmen.... which I loved, and my first time being tatooed even though it was just three tiny pinhead size dots on my chest! I asked for butterflies but the technician said she hadn't done that course yet. The trip to Vancouver to see Carmen was as a treat for finishing my 'colouring' and the tattoes were all part of my planning visit to Victoria in readiness for my stay there starting on Feb 17th. Although I loved the opera, I'm not so sure Gary did as much as me, but I loved all there was to listen to and watch.
This morning I walked a long way [slowly] around the sea wall in Vancouver taking in the grey morning before the sun emerged in the afternoon and turned everything blue again. The logs on First beach only had seagulls on them, the water in the pool on Second beach was green and full of Canada Goose poop and Third beach had grey seaweedy waves crashing against the wall. It was lovely in all its grey/greenness as that's the way it is in Vancouver and you have to forgive it until it takes your breath away when the sun comes out.
I feel as if my energy is coming back already and that this is the calm before being swiped again by the radiation. I definitely have had a spring in my step this week that hasn't been there for a while. The 'colouring' is fading into the background and I have a week to enjoy being at home before taking my 'Snowbird holiday' down south in Victoria until April 2nd. I will stay there Monday to Friday to avoid the long daily journey. We had a glimpse into the future at the Cancer Lodge on Tuesday...... it was full of tired looking people waiting for lunch listening to someone play the piano, while others fiddled with a jigsaw, others played shuffleboard...talk about waiting for Godot.....you get the idea! I'm not sure I'll spend a lot of time there in the lounge but on the other hand I might be feeling just as knackered as they were.... who knows?
I have really missed writing and haven't got into a new routine of working on other longer writing; yet I hope I do. Thanks to the many of you who have written to me saying you are missing it too and I hope you come back to find this.
I check almost everyday.Happy to see you back.

I'm so happy that you are back writing, if only once a week. Sandra

How well you've done Liz. Keep cheerful through the next stage and you'll soon improve the 'image' you got of the lounge in the lodge. Maybe you can teach them tai chi!!!
Lots of love Jenny A
